Everybody in our family hunts except Hannah, Anna and me. We cook the deer!! We make fried deer steak, Beef stroganoff, Spaghetti, chili, and breakfast sausage. Mama used to make Braised deer ribs. Many times George would smoke a big deer roast all night on the smoker. It made the best sandwiches.
Deer is solid meat without lots of fat -very healthy too.
We also eat rabbit, squirrel, quail, dove and soft shell turtle ( hadn’t had that in thirty years). One time a friend brought me a bear roast to cook. I did. It was delicious. I always soak my meat in salt water over night,drain , add a tad of buttermilk then. Coat in @White Lily Flour.
