According to the police, the individual believed to be responsible for 3 bank robberies in downtown Raleigh has been apprehended.


Raleigh police have reported the arrest of a suspect in three bank robberies in central Raleigh. The suspect has been identified as Anthony Tony Thomas, a 41-year-old resident of Creedmorr. Three counts of common law robbery have been pressed against Thomas. On March 30, the M&F Bank at the location of 13 E. Hargett St. was robbed by the suspect, following which he fled with the stolen money. The same bank was robbed again on April 3, again without the suspect using any weapon. The very next day, First Citizen’s Bank was also robbed, and the suspect followed the same pattern of demanding money and then fleeing. The police also confirmed that no weapon was used during any of the robberies. Thomas was apprehended in Raleigh on Tuesday, and he has received a $200,000 secured bond for the three charges against him.
