There were two shootings that occurred on Easter Sunday within a distance of one mile from each other in Durham.


The Durham Police Department reported on Monday morning that six individuals fell victim to a shooting that took place on Sunday evening. Responding to a report of gunshots heard near the crossroads of Sima and Ridgeway avenues, where police caught sight of several shell casings, officers arrived shortly before 8 p.m. on Easter Sunday. A car that had been shot in the rear window was discovered by police upon arrival, containing two females who had not been harmed. The police department stated that a third victim, a woman, had been transported to a nearby hospital by a friend after being struck with debris. Additionally, three other victims reported that their cars had been shot as well. In another shooting that transpired less than one mile away in the 500 block of Massey Avenue the same Sunday, one victim was hurt and taken to a hospital in a non-life-threatening state. At this time, no one has been arrested for either shooting, and the police have not claimed that the two events were linked in any way.
