Several central NC counties issued a warning for flash floods on Friday morning.


A flood advisory and a flash flood warning were issued by the National Weather Service for central North Carolina counties on Friday morning. Wake, Johnston, and Harnett Counties were the first to receive the advisory at 6:42 a.m., which will be in effect until 8:45 a.m. The advisory stated that heavy rainfall would cause flooding. Shortly after, a flash flood warning was issued for south central Wake County and north central Harnett County at 7:17 a.m., warning of potential flooding in creeks, streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses. Areas that may endure flash floods are Raleigh, Cary, Garner, Fuquay-Varina, Angier, Holly Springs, Lake Wheeler, Lake Benson, and Duncan. The warning suggested drivers to turn around when encountering flooded roads, and will remain in effect until 10:15 p.m.
